Hradcany, Prague 2005 |
I once went to buy a house, and the owner googled me. The real estate agent
sat down for lunch with our agent and passed over a piece of paper, a printout
of my personal website and said : "The owner thinks he can afford the
asking price". I laughed when I heard about it and told my agent that
I googled the seller and told him to tell them so and thought that they
could afford to sell it for what I was asking. It's humorous in this day
and age to assume anything about what one reads on the internet, as if a
web site is valuable or indicates anything, so take everything you read
here or anywhere with a grain of salt. If you are looking for my Curriculum
Vitae, that would be found here.
First, which Eric Pratt am I? Because there
are several
out there.
I am the Eric Pratt born on April 22nd, 1976 and lived and grew up in Narragansett,
Rhode Island and live in North Tustin, California. But let's take a closer
look at those that bear similar namesake, because there are some interesting
similarities here.
First, the house and the two schools seem to sum up my basic skills; architecture,
engineering, and art. I design things for a living, whether images for use
in television production, or enclosures for hard drives, all have at their
core a reliance on art.
And then there are the other Erics Pratt, it's unusual to find such similarity
but it's not difficult to see a few loose trends here: web design, television
production, programming, and martial arts. Now to be honest I'm not that
good at Jui Jitsu, but I do a fair share of web design, a lot of television
production, and fair amount of programming (for the internet at least).
I just find it odd to share so much in common with some of the other Erics
Pratt in the world.
I also travel quite a bit making frequent trips to Europe and Australia
and other stops including Bora Bora, New Zealand, and Hawaii. When I go
I bring my Fujifilm FinePix S2 (a 12mp interpolated digital SLR) and my
Sony HDR-FX1 high def camcorder. you can check the pictures out here.
You can see some of the video on my business website where I sell it as
backgrounds
for chromakeying.
My father is a marine biologist based out of the Florida Keys, he does nurse
shark research at the Dry Tortugas where he gets in the water, and wrestles
with sharks and films them having sex. My mother lives in Rhode Island still,
she's an audiologist and loves to sing. If I had to take a guess, I would
say I got the art from my mother and engineering from my father (who was
always building things in his shop while I was growing up).
My sister Jess, her husband Rob, and my two nieces Hailey and Reilly, lived
in Fallbrook for a few years while Rob worked at the Coronado navy base.
It was nice having them here so I could get to know my sister, and my niece
Hailey. Reilly was just born so I don't know her that well.
