There
are very few things one can do that are more rewarding than visiting
the crown of the world: The Himalayas in Nepal. The countries' beauty
is only equalled by it's cultural heritage. With an amazing mixture
of Buddhist and Hindu religeous sites traveling the Himalayas is
not only a physical experience, but a spiritual one as well.

Set amid the soaring peaks are an amazing assortment of stupas,
monasteries, and the ever present chortens waving their prayers
written on their silk pages.

Every
day of your adventure is set against a backdrop of the highest and
most impressive looking mountains found anywhere on the planet
But where to begin? One does not simply book a teahouse online,
and there are permits, and if you are planning on flying into Lukla
(the closest airfield to Everest) you will need to arrange airfare
as well. And not to discourage you but unless you are used to hiking
above 14,000' you may want to have someone carry your gear for a
modest fee. You may be coming to the same conclusion I did the first
time I traveled to Nepal: You need someone in the country to sort
things out for you. A local who speaks the language and knows the
ins and outs of every aspect of travel and adventure in Nepal. Avoiding
paying thousands of dollars to a US or EU travel agency was my priority,
but finding a reliable agent inside Nepal seemed a daunting task.
After visiting a number of travel agents who always 'knew someone'
who could answer my questions and would I wait here while they go
find them, I came across Holiday Adventure Treks on Jyatha Tole
across from the Norling right in Thamel. I walked into an office
where before I even spoke to someone I knew actual treks had been
organized there, what sold me however was their friendly demeanor,
ability to organize my trek, get the gear I needed sorted out, a
guide and porter, permits, airfare, all in no time at all and for
less than I was told elsewhere.
My first trip into the Himalayas was as perfect and amazing as every
daydream I ever had about it. If you have any questions you can
